The Indonesia's Unsung Heroes

Hai guys we meet again :) . So for the next place in ASEAN countries is Indonesia. Lets meet with the heroes there!















1. NURAINI & HER HUSBAND


Nuraini overcome her emotional toll with charity work 
During the 2004 tsunami, 72 years old Nuraini and her husband have losing their four children, 11 grandchildren and home.

However, this couple done a very praiseworthy deed when they were deciding to use their pension to build a kindergarten in Merduati village, Bandar Aceh. Nuraini said that the purpose they started the kindergarten is because they believe that children should begin their education earlier.

Besides that, when Nuraini is not running after the children at her school, she also does other services which is sharing her knowledge and skills to the women in her village. She teaches cooking and traditional handicrafts while become a community facilitator for a Psychological Support Programme (PSP) which is run by the American Red Cross and Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). She also admitted that she keep herself in busy schedule to make herself forget about the pain of losing her family during the tsunami disaster. Furthermore, Nuraini and her fellow volunteer facilitators also play a critical role in helping the victims from the communities recover from the emotional pain and hard time after the tsunami.




2. BAMBANG SOELISTYO


Bambang left his family for the call
Bambang Soelistyo has not been home for 10 days he was appointed as a chief of the rescue team due to the search and rescue mission of the missing Indonesia's AirAsia plane QZ8501 on December 28, 2014.

During the rescue mission, Bambang revealed that he rarely takes a break ever since the plane went missing. He sleeps at the Basarnas headquarters every night as his shift usually ends at 1 or 2 am. It is a testament to the man’s dedication towards his work that he is usually up and working again by 5am.

The chief, who has often given the media the latest updates on the missing airplane has dedicated all of his time into search and rescue efforts. He said that he doesn’t mind if he has to keep sleeping in his office as long as the search for AirAsia QZ8501 continues.

Lastly, he also said that it is his responsibility as the head of the team to make sure search and rescue efforts reach success.
